Feeding
Good nutrition is essential for the health, productivity, and well-being of dairy cows. Offering a fresh, homogeneous and well-distributed diet throughout the day improves consumption, reduces waste and limits stress within the herd. Our solutions help you ensure constant access to quality food, while optimizing your working time.

Optimize the efficiency, well-being and profitability of your dairy farm.
Food represents one of the highest cost items in dairy production. Managing it well means contributing to animal health and milk quality, while reducing losses and environmental impact. DeLaval offers innovative and complementary solutions for fluid, precise and sustainable ration management.
DeLaval OptiDuo™ — Food Refreshing Robot
With OptiDuo™, no more just pushing the ration: it is remixed and then repositioned automatically to make it more appetizing and accessible.
- Increased consumption : cows feed more frequently, up to 2 kg more milk per day.
- Save time and manpower : save up to $3,500 per year through automation.
- Less waste : sorting reduced to around 1%, uniform diet even for dominated animals.
- Integrated security : sensors stopping the unit in contact with an obstacle, then automatically restarting.
- Adaptability : design capable of managing different types, volumes and heights of rations.
A real boost in the daily management of the feeding table, while maximizing the comfort and productivity of the herd.
Calf Feeding Solutions
Today's calves are tomorrow's future cows. With DeLaval equipment (buckets, pacifiers, electric blankets...), the objective is clear: to support their growth, strengthen their immunity and promote optimal development. Well-thought-out installations from the start contribute to a healthier and more efficient herd in the long term.
Accessories and additional equipment
An efficient feeding table is based on small, reliable equipment:
- Heavy duty troughs for a solid and clean distribution.
- Salt blocks adapted for a regular mineral intake.
- Solid stainless steel buckets ideal for supplements or specific diets.
Transform your feed management into a solid asset for herd health and farm performance.

FAQ

The VMS™ is designed to operate independently, but requires regular maintenance to ensure its performance: daily automatic cleaning, checking of wear parts, weekly maintenance, and scheduled technical intervention. Your dealer can suggest an adapted maintenance plan.
It depends on the size of your herd, your available workforce, your level of comfort with automation, and your long-term goals.
- VMS™ : ideal for farms that want to automate, improve animal welfare and collect individual data.
- Rotatable : for large farms looking to maximize hourly throughput with few staff.
- Parallel or cob milking parlor : a proven and economical solution, easy to maintain.
The OptiDuo™ robot doesn't just push the ration back: it automatically mixes and repositions it, which encourages cows to feed more frequently and improves the quality consistency of the ration. The result: more milk produced per cow, less waste, and a reduction in labor of up to $3,500 per year.
DelPro FarmManager allows you to plan and execute a rational strategy for each cow or group, based on the lactation stage (DIM), production level, or days before calving (DTC). You can program smooth transitions between two types of food or schedule a ration supplement at the peak of lactation, all with assignments that automatically follow one another without interruption.
Both systems offer the same benefits in terms of milking, animal comfort and efficiency. The VMS™ V310 also includes RePro™ technology, which measures progesterone levels in milk to automatically track ovulation, pregnancy, or reproductive disorders.
The VMS™ (Voluntary Milking System) is an autonomous milking robot that allows cows to be milked when they want, without human intervention. It improves animal health, reduces workload, and automatically collects accurate data on each milking.
It depends on the size of your herd, the type of ration (TMR/PMR), the degree of automation sought and the milking model used (robotic system or not). An audit or a quick discussion with a DeLaval representative will help you establish a tailor-made solution.
